FM40 STYLE | A LOOK FIT FOR A SUNNY BANK HOLIDAY

C L I C K  T O  S H O P

A short and sweet post from me for this Friday in honour of the Bank Holiday Weekend and the many gorgeous dresses that are about.

As we know Instagram is awash with the fabulous midi linen dresses from Zara and I have myself caved and I went back for the cream frill sleeve dress that I featured on my stories.... the issue I had in the changing room is that I just need to lose this half a stone and then I know it will look awhole lot better! She says ......

N.B that dress runs small as it's from the TRF range I got a large (I am normally a M in Zara Women).

Anyway if you want to be slightly different from the Zara crowd their Spanish competitors have fabulous midi dresses too. I am personally loving two blue and white stripes ones, this and this.  I just adore blue and white seersucker stripe one above, it's so fresh and summery looking. Both dresses would look perfect with either tan or white accessories and talking about the accessories, how about that bag? So designer like. Plus, check out the slides! I spotted these fabulous Hermes-esq slides this week and I was really impressed same price as the Dune ones, but dare I say it these look more expensive!

This outfit would be perfect for a little Bank Holiday day out in the sunshine enjoying a glass of Pimms or two.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend and enjoy the Half Term Break!

FM40 STYLE | SUMMER HOLIDAY CAPSULE WARDROBE 2018 (PART 5)

S E P A R A T E S

In previous posts I have talked about the merits of taking mostly dresses on holiday because they are easier to pack and wear. However, a pretty blouse or white linen shirt with denim cut offs is a holiday outfit that always works. Perfect for sightseeing, shopping, casual BBQs if you are self-catering or just generally pottering about in the heat.

You can either invest in an Isabel Marant blouse, Mes Demoiselles or go to Zara for the many options they have in store at the moment ...... the choice is vast.

Here are a few of my favourites that I have just found while looking ...

SHOP WHITE BLOUSES

Here are a few other ones I have found that are not white .... this one, this and this one from Hush.

R I V E R A  C H I C

While I love denim cut offs you can't beat a little Rivera chic .... tailored shorts with a white linen shirt or a breton top like the gorgeous Olivia Palermo above. My favourite shorts are Boden's Rachel shorts I find the 4 inch leg flattering on me.

SHOP SHORTS

When buying shorts think carefully about colours that will go with your wardrobe, of course denim will go with everything .... that's the beauty of denim. With chino or tailored shorts neutral colours like cream work best, white shorts look great teamed with your darker tops and perfectly complement a breton or a light weight denim or chambray shirt. Black shorts will of course go with all your white tops and can be worn on a hot day in the city with a shirt and Chanel (or Chanel-esq) ballet pumps.

Style Tip : If you don't have the legs for short shorts don't do the Bermuda length ..... it's not really a good look. #SORRY .... reminds me of a golf mama. Do a floaty little skirt instead ... of which I will be featuring in my next post.

FM40 STYLE | SUMMER HOLIDAY CAPSULE WARDROBE 2018 (PART 4)

S U N,  S E A  &  S W I M S U I T S

As we get older I think the importance of keeping swimwear classy and chic is paramount and block solid colours are the way to do this.

We will start with black or dark navy which always looks grown up and polished. The simple back one piece doesn't have to be boring, add ruffles, laces and scalloping for some interest.

SHOP DARK SWIMWEAR

Nothing looks more glamorous than a white swimsuit or bikini ..... albeit less forgiving than dark colours and extra care is needed with suncreams and false tans, but you can not deny they look stunning especially near the end of your holiday when the tan is nicely developed.

SHOP WHITE SWIMWEAR

Then of course if you want to don your inner Pammy then a red swimsuit it has to be and red complements a monochrome holiday wardrobe to perfection.

SHOP RED SWIMSUITS

If you want to a break from the solid colours I would suggest my favourites polka dots, stripes and really pretty disty florals.

SHOP PATTERNED SWIMWEAR

As you can see I have picked a wide range of price points ..... At the top end I absolute love Melissa Odabash and if my budget could afford it all my swimwear would be Odabash ... when I could and feel confident in a bikini I loved her Bel Air and Trinidad bikinis. J Crew is always a good place to shop for good swimwear at a mid price point, I personally love their ruched femme swimsuit and that one-shoulder striped one piece is so chic!

On the high street I recommend good old M&S and their secret slimming swimsuits. Also, Next have good options and some of their swimsuits that have an expensive air about them like this and this. You may have noticed I have included many pieces from &OtherStories ..... the girls at Sheerluxe recently reviewed it on their new show and said it was very expensive looking in both design and fabric and I couldn't agree more. I love this, this and this.

Accessorize and Next are killing the Marysia scalloping like swimwear, Accessorise's red bikini is so cute!

Finally, forgot to pick any from Boden this is fabulous as is this bikini.
